What is this?
This is a group open to all men and women of Christ the Good Shepherd that want to grow together in spirituality through the study of St. Joseph and culminating in a consecration to the saintly husband of Mary and foster father of Jesus.
Why would I do that?
Many Catholics have consecrated themselves to the Virgin Mary so they can be more closely united to Jesus. Of course, consecration to Mary is one of the best things you can do for your spiritual life since the purpose of a Marian consecration is to help you become "another Mary" for Jesus as a faithful, loving, and trusting companion. Consecration to Saint Joseph is similar in that it will help you become a faithful, loving, and trusting companion of Jesus and Mary!
Who can join this group?
This group is open to all men and women of Christ the Good Shepherd who are interested in growing in faith together alongside Saint Joseph.
What do I need to do?
First, contact Arnold Rodriguez (information below) to let him know you are interested and then join the group at the 8:30am Mass on Saturday mornings starting on July 17th. After Mass, the group will meet in A206/208 from 9:30am to 11:00am to discuss the Saint Joseph readings/content for the week.
Wait! What do you mean "readings/content?"
Each day during the course of the six week study, there will be a small amount of reading that everyone is asked to do. It should take about 15-20 minutes to do. The book being used for this consecration is called "Consecration to St. Joseph: The Wonders of Our Spiritual Father" by Rev. Donald H. Calloway. You can find it on Amazon by clicking here or you can find it at the local Catholic bookstore.
Ok, but what if I don't want the book or I ordered it and it won't get here on time?
That's ok. We are able to provide a portion of the readings for each day so that you can still participate in the Consecration to Saint Joseph but for a richer spiritual experience, we recommend that you purchase the book.
What if I can't come to Mass on Saturday mornings?
That's perfectly fine! Just join the group in A206/208 for the group meeting and discussion from 9:30-11:00am. We are more than happy to meet you where you are.
I'm mostly on board but I know that I can't make it to some of the Saturday meetings. What should I do?
We are planning to record a portion of the group meetings, if possible and make those available on this webpage for anyone who couldn't make it for some reason. Don't count yourself out just because life happens around you. The other men at CGS and Saint Joseph are willing to walk with you.
What about if I'd rather do this consecration in Spanish?
The good news is that the book is also available in Spanish but the group discussions will be in English this time around. We are beginning to plan an all Spanish consecration group that will begin near the end of September.
I have some more questions. Who can I talk to?
This group is being coordinated by Arnold Rodriguez. You can reach him at 281-610-0765 or by email at arodriguez110@comcast.net
