Sunday, May 23, we celebrate the birthday of the Church – the Feast of Pentecost. The Catechism of the Catholic Church #739 states, “Because the Holy Spirit is the anointing of Christ, it is Christ who, as the head of the Body, pours out the Spirit among his members to nourish, heal, and organize them in their mutual functions, to give them life, send them to bear witness, and associate them to his self-offering to the Father and to his intercession for the whole world. Through the Church’s sacraments, Christ communicates his Holy and sanctifying Spirit to the members of his Body.” You are invited to enter into a novena of prayer (9-day prayer) to the Holy Spirit, asking Him to help you/us realize the wonderful 7 gifts that we received at our Baptism and were sealed in us at our Confirmation.
Lord Jesus send your Spirit into our hearts so that we may die to sin and live with you for the Father’s glory, now and always and forever. This day I pray for the gift of __________.
Our Father…
Glory Be…
Hail Mary…
Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful, and kindle in them the fire of your love. Send forth your Spirit and they shall be created, and you will renew the face of the earth.
Lord by the light of the Holy Spirit you have taught the hearts of your faithful. In the same Spirit help us to relish what is right and always rejoice in your consolation.
I ask this in the name of Jesus Christ, who lives with you and the Holy Spirit, now and forever. Amen.
