"Were not our hearts burning within us while he spoke to us on the way and opened scriptures to us?" Our Faith is living, growing and shared! As the seed of Faith grows within us, our roots must go deeper into the soil and our living plant expands until it outgrows its pot and must be transplanted into a larger pot. It is a life long process that calls us to tend to the care of the faith that grows within us by taking advantage of some of the many Spiritual growth opportunities that are continually offered here at Christ the Good Shepherd. Our early CCD or CCE classes were great when we were young, but we have to go further. John Paul II used the phrase “Duc in Altum” in his apostolic letter for the new millennium, which means “put out into the deep” in reference to Luke 5:4. Jesus called the apostles to go deeper and catch more fish, which they did because they trusted Him. We echo that call of Jesus to all when we encourage each other to put out into the deep and expand the knowledge and experience of our Faith through study, Sacred Scripture, prayer, liturgy, community, and service.
This passage offers us a model for our ministry and shows the need we all have for ongoing formation in faith. For in it we see two adult disciples who, encountering the risen Lord, grow stronger in love, knowledge, commitment and zeal.

Statement of the US Bishops
The parish bulletin and this website will keep you informed of many opportunities for Bible studies, spiritual book studies, special speakers, days of prayer, retreats, missions, home studies, faith communities, and on-line resources. We also have a parish library of resources and staff members who can assist with Spiritual Direction for those who are searching for God’s Will in their life. Please call or email if you have any questions and pray about ways that you can “go deeper” in your walk with Christ.
